Not breathing, or not waking

An adult or a child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally is not kept in a list of questions. The same is true when someone is less awake but still described as breathing: a person takes the case, and the pace is emergency.

Choking, water, gas, or many people hurt

Something stuck in the throat, a person who may have been under water, chemicals or gas, or more than one person hurt. The caller is not sent back into danger to fetch equipment. Fresh air is the advice only when it is safe to move.

A crisis is not an interview

A mental health crisis connects a person. The guide does not ask how. The caller is not left alone with a script.

What the organization sees

The contact opens at the highest pace. Home is closed. The duty clinician owns it. A senior signature is required before the emergency handover is issued to a receiving service. The person’s own summary does not wait for that signature.
