The assessment process in plain language
For people seeking help, SOSTRIAGE™ by CAREPOI® explains what happens during the assessment, what information may be requested, and when a clinician takes over. If someone is in immediate danger, use the emergency number where you are.
01
The first questions
Where is the person, with the address. What happened. Are they awake. Is breathing as usual. If the answer about being awake is no, or you do not know, the ordinary questions stop and a person is brought in.
02
You can bring what you already have
A blood-pressure cuff, a finger oxygen meter, a thermometer, or a glucose meter, if it is already at home. A second person can count breaths or beats while you stay with the person. If you have nothing, say so. A missing number is left blank. It is not invented.
03
Three endings, and who may say the last one
Hospital now. Seen today at an urgent clinic or by your own doctor. Or home, with warning signs and when to call again. Home is said only after a clinician has looked. You will not hear that help is already on the way until a person has confirmed the handover.
04
Your record is not a link
If your organization has opened a personal folder, you sign in with a username, a password, and a one-time code. A message with a link is not how you get in. You can hold the summary up for the next clinician.
SOSTRIAGE™
The care paths
Every concern has a path. A clinician still signs.
